Anthony J Lester Art Critic Award 2009


In 2009 Jean submitted  a collection of paintings to the SWA Society for Women Artists Annual 2009 Exhibition. All six of Jeans paintings were accepted and as per the societyrules four only were  displayed in the exhibition.These were all vibrant cockerels. The President contacted Jean personally to share the good news that she had become and Associate member of the society for the outstanding  body of work. During the prize presentation at the event Jean was presented with the Anthony J Lester Art Critic Award by Gloria Hunniford  and Barbara Penketh Simpson,President of the SWA.

Following the award presentation Anthony J Lester the Art Critic  explained  Jeans work reminded him of Joseph Crawhall from the famous Glasgow Boys.

 Cockerels by Jean have now become highly collectible and are found in homes all over the world including celebrtiy chef Raymond Blanc and in the Bristish Embassadors home in Turkey.
